Highlights from Flight Day 12, Undocking

Space Shuttle DiscoverySpace Shuttle Discovery undocked from the International Space Station on Flight Day 12, bringing a successful 8-day docked operation to an end. After undocking, the shuttle performed a fly-around to photodocument the station’s exterior.

There was very little ku-band capability for the shuttle during the flyaround, so few images of the International Space Station were available, but the station crewmembers were able to send down live images of Discovery throughout the fly-around.

Shuttle Launch Scrubbed for Tuesday

Weather at the Florida launch site caused NASA to cancel the early Tuesday liftoff of Space Shuttle Discovery. The next opportunity comes at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, a delay of about 24 hours.

Orion Mockup Arrives at Johnson Space Center

A full-size mockup of the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle travelled from Kennedy Space Center, Fla., last week on the back of a flatbed truck, making daily stops along the way for public viewing. It arrived at its destination — Johnson Space Center, Houston — on Friday, Aug. 14. These photos were taken on Sunday.
