Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins won’t be appearing at the 40th anniversary hoopla this month. The command module pilot for the first lunar landing mission has done his share of interviews in the past, but at age 78, he’s really not interested in doing it all again. So this time he’s released a statement featuring excerpts of his excellent book “Carrying the Fire.”
In his statement, Collins admits to being “a little grumpy,” and sites a couple of reasons for his unease.
